Healthy Habits = Healthy Life!

We explored a unit on mindfulness and healthy choices. We started by practicing and learning some mindfulness routines from meditation to yoga, and introduced some items to our class from brain breaks such as a Buddha board, magnetic sand, and meditation stones. We then talked about how our bodies sometimes need to move and did some research on tools for the classroom. We purchased 4 under-the-desk pedals that are used on a rotational basis while working to allow our bodies to move and our minds to focus. We also bought a bosu ball (half) that serves as a 3 minute squat break when students feel their bodies need it. And then we decided to incorporate a garden for all 3/4 classes to learn about our food and also to enable us to get outside and experience the mental health benefits of gardening!
